In short, EPIC FAIL!
Do you really want to know my thoughts on it? LOL Well, I guess, to kill the time, here you go…
Chichay, always a good friend, gave her best friend a chance, not for anything else, but just to be courteous about it.
And what a grandiose! Pedro used his lifetime savings to give Chichay what he hoped would surpass the best date ever Joaquin gave Chichay!
A stretch limousine… a total make over for Chichay… a formal dinner with matching music… and it would have been perfect if not for… er, Pedro’s singing! I HAD TO MUTE MY LAPTOP WHEN HE STARTED SINGING!
Chichay once told Ryan, during their bonfire dinner, that people can dine at the most fancy restaurant and not enjoy a second, because of the company they are with. She probably forgot to tell that to Pedro, or he wouldn’t have spent and wasted his money! ‘Cause, you see, Chichay was right! Even the simplest, cheapest date at a turo-turo would be the best, if you’re with the person you love.
… and she was not with the person she love.
Pedro knew, but he took his chance and got his answer! It’s not what he wanted but he accepted his defeat.
One Down… Two To Go!
Just as Chichay chose Ryan… Ryan would have to choose between her and Elex… I mean Alex!
So, what would be the chance of Ryan choosing Chichay over Alex?… Or Alex over Chichay?
Let’s start with the fact that Ryan still doesn’t remember who he was, or who he is. He remember the scenes from the last days before he had his accident, some from his Malaya days and some of his dates with Chichay. But that doesn’t give him the whole picture! He still can’t remember him! His life… He still can’t remember Joaquin! And only Joaquin would know how he would live his life, what he want with his life … and who he would like to spend his life with!
Alex is the best friend who took care of him when he was recovering from his accident. Two years. Maybe short, but long enough to believe that you know the person well. Long enough to love that person… trust that person.
Chichay, on the other hand, was a blurred image from his past. He has vague memory of her. What few things he recall are from those days he was with her… but he can’t understand why she lied to him… and he’s not sure why she chose to hurt him… The only thing he’s sure of, is that he love her.
Julianna’s perspectives, as Jaime would put it, are of course lies. Lies on how Ryan grew up alone and secluded from the world, on how Chichay took advantage of his naivety, about how she dumped him when his Lolo disowned him, and that she’s only after him to save her father… but his three days with Chichay somehow tells him, they can’t be true. Chichay never mentioned her father, let alone, gave him the impression that she was after his wealth. In fact, it was him who took advantage of her kindness… her patience… and her love. She saw the good in him when nobody did. She understood him when nobody would. She loved him when nobody could.
Jaime’s silence is not fear of Julianna but respect for the mother of his son. That day Joaquin almost died, she was a rock of strength, a source of hope, and a picture of courage. He couldn’t ask for more. He couldn’t have thanked her enough for taking care of his only son.
Given all these considerations, Ryan should be able to choose… And I’m afraid to say, Alex is weighing on…
“Pag tinalikuran ko si Christina, masasaktan ko sya. Pero pag pinili ko naman si Christina, masasaktan ko si Mama… masasaktan ko rin si Alex. Ang alam ko lang ngayon, I have to make a choice.”
Now let me just stop here and ponder on what Ryan said and how he said it: “Pag tinalikuran ko si Christina, masasaktan ko sya" He first thought of Christina and how it could hurt her! … uhm, come to think of it, “Joaquin and Chichay”, in their past, were lovers… but the “Ryan and Christina” of today, are not lovers! So, technically, he is not obliged to explain to her anything because there is nothing between them… except the three days they shared together!… “Pero pag pinili ko naman si Christina, masasaktan ko si Mama…” Again, here, he referred to Christina before he considered who could get hurt. I mean, he could have said it differently but he kept using Chichay as his point of argument… then what seem to be an after thought, added “masasaktan ko rin si Alex"… Alex was not even his first concern here!… it was his mother! This may be something trivial, but it speaks well of who he is more concerned with. Who is more important to him, Ryan. And this is Ryan we are talking about! It’s not even Joaquin! If Ryan who once regard Alex as his sunshine could forget her altogether… what more if it’s Joaquin who could only love one girl- Chichay?
Alex don’t stand a chance in this game. She knows it. She can feel it.
But Ryan loves his mother. He looks up to her. He adores her… and this, my friends, is where the real battle boils down: Julianna or Chichay… Chichay or Julianna!
The question still remain, though: Who would Joaquin choose?
Alex the girl who took care of him, whom he thought he love and could love forever, who won’t give up on him… and whom his mother roots for… or Christina, who according to many, was his greatest love… but who chose to hurt him!
There is only one thing Ryan probably need to ask himself: Who would Joaquin choose? Who would he want to spend his life with? Who would he love?… Because at the end of the day, it’s only Joaquin who would know his own true heart! @}—-
